COPD Educational Courses

Have you had a diagnosis of COPD within the last few years?

‘COPD & Me’ is a live and interactive course which consists of 2 x 75-minute online sessions with the aim to support and encourage you to reduce the risk of your COPD developing further. ‘COPD & Me’ is a new initiative for those living within Bucks.  The sessions have been created based on evidence which has shown to be helpful for people with COPD.  Topics we will cover include, understanding medications, advice on flare ups and how to avoid them, and a closer look at lifestyle recommendations for those living with COPD.

The group sessions will be suitable for either those with a recent diagnosis, or anyone who has not attended Pulmonary Rehabilitation.

During each session you will also have the opportunity to speak to a respiratory specialist nurse who will be able to answer questions regarding the condition. Please note she will not have access to your medical notes.

Other patients from across Buckinghamshire will also be invited and we ask that all those who join sessions agree to respect and maintain confidentiality.

Feedback from patients on previous courses –

“To be honest, I was not looking forward to this course, but I’m very glad now that I did actually attend. Jess and Paula were very helpful and put me at ease. They explained everything really well, so I could understand without feeling I was being talked down to you. Really pleased I did the course”

“The sessions were very informative, and I felt the advice and help given was easy to follow and extremely helpful.”

“I found these sessions extremely helpful and very well worth attending and I would recommend them to anyone who has COPD.”

The sessions are to be held one week apart and will be delivered online using a digital platform called Zoom.  If you have not used Zoom before, please look at the step-by-step guide attached.

If you would like to attend, simply email Paula and Jess from the training team at Buckinghamshire CCG, on bucksccg.ltctraining@nhs.net with your name and the name of your GP surgery. We will contact you to offer available course dates and times in due course, and all information and details on how to access the sessions will be sent directly to you.
